About Us

Mt Pleasant Community Centre & Residents Association Inc. or MPCC for short has been part of the Mt Pleasant Community for 58 years. Originally established at the same time as the Community Centre was built, our role is a wide one and essentially it is to ensure that the social, cultural and recreational needs of our community are fulfilled.
Our vision is:

“To nurture and facilitate a dynamic, friendly community that is resilient and sustainable.”

Our current projects involve community master planning, organising for the rebuild of the Community Centre, running of the temporary community centre, establishing a network of Street Coordinators, creating a Response and Resilience plan, organising community events and keeping our web, email and Facebook sites up to date with relevant information for residents.

How can you support us?

Currently the Association depends on grants and residents’ subscriptions to fund its activities and run the temporary centre. Please show your support for the work we do by becoming a member of the Association, only $20.00 per annum for a household or $10 for a single person. Membership of the Association entitles you to voting rights on the  new community centre and the running the Temporary Community Centre. Volunteer

We are always keen to receive new volunteers. Volunteers are needed for regular activities and for one off tasks. Regular activities you could be involved with are: being rostered on the  the community information stall at the Farmers Market (one week in eight),  quarterly newsletter deliveries, mail outs, building or garden maintenance, being part of the Response & Resilience or Events teams.  We also encourage and support ‘champions” – people who are happy to lead an activity for community benefit.

Committee

We currently have 9 committee members who were elected at our AGM in May 2012 and since October 2011 have the services of a .25 FTE earthquake recovery coordinator for one year.

We meet monthly on the third Monday of the month at 7.30pm at the Mt Pleasant Temporary Community Centre.
