>Dear Mt Pleasant Residents
The Residents Association hopes that life for you and your family is beginning to take on some semblance of normality by now? The Mt Pleasant area certainly took a heavy blow from the 22 February earthquake but we are very lucky in that, by and large, we are a resilient group of people. The loss of life is the saddest thing of all in all this mess but we know that many people are also suffering from the fact that they had to abandon the homes that they love and look for alternative accommodation at such a distressing time. The Committee is here to help if it possibly can. (Apologies for the slow offer but until today we did not an have internet connection). One of the best way we can do this is to relay information of general use. You may already know the following but just in case you don’t:
- EQC local reps will be at Ferrymead Mite 10 Mega, Monday 7-8.30am for BBQ breakfast and discuss repairs to our area. Please advise others and register at Mitre 10 Mega.
- Lyttelton Farmers Market will be sited at Mount Pleasant Community Centre this Saturday, 10.00am to 1.00pm. Coffee, fruit and veg, pies, bread, fish, Children’s entertainment and more, spread the word let’s rebuild our community with love food and friendships. For stall enquiries contact Tom Davies, 03 384 4390 or 027 600 7779. Please tell everyone, we have no way of getting publicity at such short notice, so need word of mouth, social networks and friends.
- You can obtain water at the Mt Pleasant School site – there is a water tanker on site from 9.00am to 4.00pm daily.
- There are six portaloos at the school also as well as others dotted around the area.
- The closest supermarket for Mt Pleasant people is probably the Stanmore Road New World, opposite London Street in Richmond. However Sumner Supermarket is also open. Moorhouse Ave Countdown is open and they are hoping to get the Countdown in Ferrymead open soon. Dairies in Redcliffs and Woolston also open.
- Look for the excellent Council information sheet delivered to mail boxes in the last day or so for additional information.
Bye for now and we wish you all the best for the days ahead.
