Mt Pleasant Memorial Community Centre Rebuild
The Mt Pleasant Memorial Community centre is currently being rebuilt following damaged sustained during the 6.3 earthquake which struck Christchurch on 22 February 2011. The epicentre was located approximately 2 kms from Mt Pleasant.
The new building has been designed by Chris Moller of CMA + U Architecture and is being constructed by Leighs Construction Ltd. It is expected that the building will be officially opened at the end of September 2016.
Funding the new centre
The centre, like many Christchurch facilities, was under-insured at the time of the quakes and so funding the 4.1 M cost of the rebuild has been quite a task for the community of Mt Pleasant.
As of July 2016 the Association still needs to raise nearly $500,000 to complete the build without a loan. If you would like help us by contributing to our Rebuild fund you can find all the information you need to do this here . If you are a business and would like to sponsor us either by donation or goods and services in kind please see here for our Sponsorship Package. Please don’t hesitate to call our coordinator Linda Rutland on 021 2398946 to discuss any of these options.
