Share Kai and Kōrero

APRIL & MAY

Screen Shot 2024-03-06 at 8.27.30 PM.png

Join us Friday evenings this Autumn to connect with others over tasty food and share in the cultures and cuisines of communities that call Ōtautahi home.

April 19 -  Nepali/Bhutanese kai: momos (dumplings) and takari (curry) and chai (tea).
April 26 - Eritrean cuisine injera (sourdough pancake), vegan and meat stews, donuts and buna (traditional coffee).

May 3 - Afghan culture and kai such as mantu (dumplings), bolani (stuffed breads) and vegan and halal meat dishes with rice.

May 10 - Palestinian cuisine for our final night.

Not only is tasty, healthy kai on the menu, there's also the invitation to have a chat and get to know others around the table with nudges like – "What's your go to comfort food?", "Who taught you to cook?" and “What’s your most memorable meal?” to get the conversation flowing.

Food $20 and under and drinks $3 – 5. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and halal friendly.

Brought to you by Share Kai and the Mt Pleasant Community Centre.

Raise the Roof Fundraiser

NOW!

The fundraising campaign to finance the covering of the deck outside the Front Room Cafe has officially got underway. The aim is to make the area weatherproof so that it can be used in all weather. It consists of a louvre roof and clear plastic sides that can be rolled up in good weather - think Riverside or Ocean by the Sumner clocktower.

It doubles the number of tables that front on to the estuary, and allows a clear view of the Llew Summers sculpture, Flight.

It also means that it can be booked for functions such as birthdays and anniversaries.

Details on how to donate are o on flyers at the community centre. or donate to this account:

Bright Idea

Got An Idea?

We are always looking to host new community groups. If you have an idea you'd like to try out for a club or regular group get in touch with Kaye here. We can provide the venue as well as support with promotion and admin related to your group. If you have a community not for profit group that is open to members of the public and looking for a home, we may be able to help with that, too.
