ESTUARY FESTIVAL, February 22, 2020 1 - 5pm

Estuary Fest celebrates our coastal environment and communities surrounding it. We enjoy a fantastic environment – and here's a day for the whole family to enjoy it! Learn about the estuary with the interactive environmental stalls, enjoy the Ferris Wheel and other rides.

This event is volunteer run, please get in touch here if you can help out on the day.

Kids Movie  PONYO, Monday January 20 11am

Join us for a screening of Ponyo - just about the sweetest animated feature film ever made! A five-year-old boy develops a relationship with Ponyo, a young goldfish princess who longs to become a human after falling in love with him.
We'll have popcorn for sale and entrance to the film is by koha/donation on the door.
Caregivers are welcome to watch the film or hang out in our cafe while it runs.

Mt Pleasant Singers

All are welcome to join this community group sing along. Nothing required apart from an enthusiasm for singing together! Meeting in the hall the last Thursday of each month at 1.30pm – 3pm. We sing a range of tunes and are accompanied by a pianist and ukuleles.

One Stitch at a Time

Craft Group

This friendly group meets every Thursday from 10am - midday. Group members practice a creative and diverse range of craft which include quilting, cross-stitch, hexagon patchwork, knitting, crocheting, and plant dyed blanket art, plus more. 

As well as stories shared, there is also sharing of skills and techniques and a generous interest in other’s projects.

Te Tapuwae O Rakau Trust

Te Tapuwae O Rakau Trust are working hard to  plant 10,000 native trees in the Port Hills. TTORT works with private landowners, Ngāi Tahu, central and local government, community groups and individuals to carry out a planned cultural and ecological reforestation programs. They will welcome any volunteers at their monthly meetings in the Blue Room at the Mt Pleasant Centre on the last Tuesday of each month from 3 - 5pm.

We are always looking to host new community groups. If you have an idea you'd like to try out for a club or regular group get in touch with Kathy here. We can provide the venue as well as support with promotion and admin related to your group. If you have a community not for profit group that is open to members of the public and looking for a home, we may be able to help with that, too. 

Community Garden Weekly Working Bee

Interested in contributing time & sweat to our community garden? If so, join Jocelyn at the weekly working bees Thursdays at 10-11.30am. You can find the newly established Mt Pleasant Memorial Community Garden between the community centre and the kindy.

Soup & A Show

Soup & A Show will return later in 2020.

This social group meets for a communal lunch and a movie get together.

Soup is served at 11.30am and is $5 and the vintage movie starts at midday, entry by koha.  For more info or if you have vintage movie suggestions contact Kathy.


Mt Pleasant Walking Group

Mt Pleasant Walking Group meets every Tuesday and Thursday morning, departing from  the Community Centre car park at 9:30am. Walkers are welcome to walk either or both days to suit individuals. Walks cover a wide range of areas, providing hill and flat options.  A medium level of fitness is required.  Most walks are up to one and a half hours and conclude with coffee at a nearby cafe.

Cup of Tea by the Estuary

This social group meets in the Front Room Cafe on the second and fourth Monday of each month from 10am for a cup of tea and chat.

Le Leche League

Breastfeeding Support

This group holds monthly informal discussion meetings for mothers and their babies, older children and support people are also welcome. Meetings are based on the importance of mother to mother support and cover a wide range of breastfeeding related topics. Please bring your questions, concerns and also your achievements and triumphs! Meets third Thursday of each month, 10am – 12pm.

Playgroup is now running from 9.30am - 11.30am every Thursday in term time - drop in when it suits you or stay for the full two hours. 
Come and enjoy a relaxed play with our lovely toys in the spacious hall downstairs in the Mt Pleasant Centre. Try out the dress-ups, musical instruments, put together some puzzles or zoom around on the ride on bug. 
All pre-schoolers and their caregivers are welcome, entrance by koha. Playgroup runs every Thursday in term time.
